Drought Respite

The first thing he did was drink his fill of raindrops. The drought has been very rough on the birds of Kansas, but at last the goldfinch's thirst was slaked. His color is normally hard to capture, but the lack of light during the storm enables a good rendition of his perfect yellow. He is perched in a native Kansas red bud tree in my garden in Overland Park, Kansas.
