I hope this conversion pleases you. It is a rough legged hawk with its eye on you.

He was very angry at me, Heather, for stopping the truck near his tree and pointing the lens at him.

What a hawk..... the way he is looking actually feels as if he is indeed looking upon me.... as ... well... a prey I guess... but he is so beautiful....
However.... the fairly clear (or not) association one makes that these are birds of prey... reminds me not to say - I would love to have it close to me....
The coloured patters of the bird are totally incredible, and I presume really stand out because of your choice of colour...
Rene.... another Masterpiece my dearest friend....

I woke up at 2:15 this morning, found the file and worked on it. One can do so much more with black and white that there's no end to it. As I often do of late, I chose selenium tones, and again put a breath of color back into the eye, though even I can not notice it. It is clean, as you say, and the hawk has a lurking nobility, with a femininity from the feathers that form a dress towards the feet. I think it does qualify for the upcoming show, and I have ordered the print, because it speaks for me. Your comments are invaluable as I try to evaluate my own work, something I must get better at.

Well René, I think it is rather "difficult" to truthfully evaluate your own work - as you are so closely linked to it - pouring over it for many hours.... Its just like expecting to be able to see the "reality" in a loved one....

Certainly this work speaks to me - and I anticipate that Teresa will just be enthralled with it (sorry dear - but I doubt I am wrong...)... it really is a very special peice and I hope we will be able to buy this as a card in an order I am intending to place within the next 7 to 10 days..... pretty please!!!!

Mel, you can purchase the color version already, by looking for the deviation entitled "Hidden". Its back there somewhere, and its one of my best selling cards at the bird store. But if you want it in selenium, I would be happy to find the original, crop it to 5x7 and convert it from scratch, although I would never be able to duplicate all of the steps, it would just be a new work that you could reject if you didn't like the result. I just picked up this print from the printer and it looks really good in a 14x14 (my usual show size) and it will for sure go in my May show. Thanks,

Rene
